How to make
real estate sustainable
THE FLAG's focus in real estate construction is on the conversion of existing properties. We consider where it makes sense to build a new one and where existing buildings can be converted in a sustainable way. The design and construction of the sustainable properties are in our responsibility to ensure that all ESG guidelines are followed during both construction and use. For example, to actively protect the environment, we rely on climate-friendly energy sources and purchase 100 % green electricity. Digitalization also enables us to process data externally via a CO2-neutral data center.
As a sustainable real estate provider, THE FLAG wants to make a significant contribution toward the improvement of the living situation in urban centers. Therefore, being close to the city center is an important location factor during the selection process of our properties. A mobility concept adapted to the location supports our residents in living a sustainable lifestyle. By providing training, conversations, and information sheets, we also raise awareness among our suppliers, tenants, and employees to build, occupy and operate real estate sustainably.
Sustainable real estate in Germany
We already use eco-friendly energy sources at all our German locations. The sustainable buildings we own in Munich and Frankfurt are exemplary in this regard. The Munich II property complies with all the guidelines of the city of Munich's Ecological Criteria Catalog for subsidized housing. In Frankfurt, our own combined heat and power system is responsible for heat dissipation in electricity production. For energy and water savings, we have already installed motion detectors and a cistern to collect and reuse rainwater.
Sustainable real estate in Switzerland
Our Zurich location is known as the "Velo City," which is why we decided on expanding bicycle parking spaces here in our mobility concept. Along with charging stations for e-cars, we have used these to replace classic parking lots for promoting a sustainable urban living space.

We value natural locational advantages in order to build and occupy sustainable real estate. At THE FLAG Costa del Sol in Spain, our properties benefit from intense sunlight, so we are able to generate solar power. The Mediterranean climate and the relaxing environment offer the residents of our Senior Living Apartments a unique quality of life.
