Modern business hotel opens
in Munich

Munich, June 9, 2021 - The Flag group is opening a new hotel in Munich's new Meiller Gärten district. The boarding house "The Flag Meiller Gärten" has 152 rooms and apartments. It will officially open its doors on June 15, 2021.

"Our hotel, like our other properties, is primarily aimed at business travellers who are planning a longer stay and are therefore looking for serviced apartments," says Eike Muhr, managing director of The Flag group. For this target group, she says, the overall package has to be right. "That's why there are also special features and offers for long-term guests in this newest establishment," Muhr emphasizes. For example, The Flag Meiller Gärten hotel has apartments with fully equipped kitchens, parquet floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and free WLAN. A rooftop terrace, fitness area, restaurant and other amenities are also designed to make the stay as pleasant as possible outside the apartment. In addition, The Flag offers special rates for longer stays.

Inspiring house address

The address of the new hotel in Munich is Margarete-Steiff-Strasse 1. "For our entire team, this was a great opportunity to give the hotel an even more individual touch," says Eike Muhr. Parallel to the construction of the hotel, the team therefore held conversations about a cooperation with the Steiff Group. In the end, the cooperation worked out, and guests will be able to encounter specially branded Steiff teddy bears in numerous locations in The Flag Meiller Gärten hotel.

Location in a new urban quarter

The Flag Meiller Gärten is part of the extensive Meiller Gärten neighborhood development, which covers an area of 6.7 hectares and is one of the largest private rental housing projects in the city of Munich. The hotel building was designed by Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht Ges. v. Architekten.

"As a general tenant, we are committing ourselves permanently to this location" says Managing Director Eike Muhr. "That's why we focus intensively on the location, as this is also particularly important for our customer group of business travellers." Mostly, even if they arrive by car, they don't want to torture themselves through the traffic in Munich. Here, guests can leave the car in the underground garage and be at Munich's main train station in 15 minutes by metro. This is because the new boarding house is very well connected to public transport. Within walking distance there are stops for bus, underground and metro. Guests arriving by car can use the underground parking garage. E-charging stations are also available there.

Soon Senior Living in Munich, too?

With the new opening, the group now has two boarding houses in the state capital. However, the family-owned company also plans to offer special apartments for older people in Munich. In nearby Dachau, The Flag has already secured a plot of land for such a project.

"There are many older people in Munich who would like to move into a smaller apartment," says Eike Muhr. Our concept would allow seniors to live in a self-determined way, but with the amenities and support that people like to have in old age. At the same time, such concepts relieve Munich's tight housing market, since the move usually frees up larger apartments. The demand is seen, but the challenge lies in finding a suitable property. Muhr says: "At the moment, many hotels are having to give up their operations, and perhaps among them is a house that we can convert into a senior living opportunity."
