new home for active
Today, the foundation stone for a new home for active seniors is being laid in the Swiss canton of Ticino. THE FLAG, a family-owned company, is constructing the building in the district of Lugano, on a plot of land measuring around 2,200 m².
Eike Muhr, Managing Director of THE FLAG, says, "We are pleased that we can continue to grow in the senior accommodation segment, in locations that are attractive for people in the prime of their lives. The area around Lugano is virtually predestined for this." In addition to the construction workers, the Muhr family of investors, Giovanni Bruschetti, mayor of the municipality of Massagno, and Raffaele Balmelli, Head of Building Construction South & East at Implenia, will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
The new building will have six floors and 42 open-plan apartments. A large roof terrace and a photovoltaic system on the roof are also planned. Services and amenities for ‘silver agers’ will be provided on the first floor. An underground garage with 18 parking spaces, including charging stations for electric vehicles, is also planned.
The building has been designed by the Lugano-based architects Renzetti & Partners. Implenia, a listed Swiss construction and real estate services provider, is acting as general contractor.
A time capsule containing Swiss coins, a current daily newspaper and information providing details about the Senior Living concept, will be incorporated into the building.
Construction work on the new home for those in the prime of their lives is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2024. In this way THE FLAG continues on its mission to support active seniors with a wide range of services, enabling them to live a self-determined and active life in old age.
